Woolrich
Born in Pennsylvania in 1830, Woolrich dresses outdoor enthusiasts. The first wool garments were designed to help hikers in harsh conditions and cold temperatures, eventually supporting engineers working in the Arctic Circle. Then as now, we believe in what our products can become. We have emphasized the pursuit of authentic goals, freedoms, and adventures, and we instill this sentiment in our garments. Our ever-true tradition merges with the present and future to encourage everyone to live in the elements. The design of our products is pure, discreet, and consistent. Woolrich collections embody a design sensibility characterized by fashionable durability; a discreet aesthetic that allows for the creation of enduring styles, season after season. Our functional approach to product purpose inspires the use of advanced materials and production techniques, making our garments suitable for facing the elements. Woolrich products create beauty through utility, style through craftsmanship. These designs offer the privilege of a life lived outdoors, in natural and urban environments, enjoying all that it entails. As the first outdoor clothing brand in America, our products have over time become true icons. The Buffalo Check pattern has been a symbol of Americana style and workwear since its first appearance and remains one of Woolrich's most powerful visual codes, season after season. The name is inspired by the designer's herd of buffaloes who developed this distinctive red and black pattern. The Arctic Parka model was designed in the 1970s for workers engaged in constructing the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, where daily high temperatures hovered around 40 degrees below zero. The design, pockets, and compartments are still unmistakable today. Woolrich has led the evolution of the Parka over the last forty years, from introducing the fur-lined hood, using technological fabrics, to new eco-sustainable materials.
