Paul&Shark
Paul & Shark is a luxury Italian brand. The company, known for its shark logo and specialized in sailing apparel, was founded on March 4, 1957, at the Daco Knitting Mill, which was established in 1921 and reopened by Gian Ludovico Dini. Nine years later, it changed its name to Dama S.p.A. The company's products reached markets worldwide, thanks in large part to collaborations with Christian Dior and Balenciaga. In 1957, the company finally changed its name to Paul & Shark. In the early 1970s, Paolo Dini, Gian Ludovico's eldest son, was in a workshop in Maine, where the sail of an old 18th-century clipper caught his attention. The inscription read “Paul & Shark.” From that moment, the brand ventured into the sports fashion sector with a collection inspired by the world of sailing. In 1978, the famous C0P918 pullover was born, a sailing sweater that would become a true icon of Paul & Shark style, also known for its packaging: a metal can used on ships as a multipurpose container. This product marked the beginning of a collection of water-repellent knitwear. The brand quickly became part of the Italian fashion world, offering high-performance technical materials, most of which were patented by Paul & Shark. The brand's total look includes trousers, shorts, swimwear, jackets, blazers, socks, shoes, and umbrellas. Paul & Shark also offers knitwear products made of hi-tech machine-washable wool (called superwash) and "total easy care" yarn that dries easily in a home spin-dryer. The most recent lines have been dedicated to golf, sailing, and diving. Over the years, Paul & Shark invested considerable energy in technological research, seeking the most innovative solutions for sportswear. The results were highly rewarding: even today, Paul & Shark holds several exclusive technologies, including Typhoon, a patented technique with an ultra-soft membrane and revolutionary production process. The Typhoon collection offers the best waterproof and windproof performance among competitors, ensuring maximum comfort at all times. The Shield E.M.W is a mobile phone pocket designed to protect the body from electromagnetic waves. Paul & Shark's latest research has produced a three-in-one technology: three threads woven into a single yarn provide greater durability to the garments. Paul & Shark is available in 73 countries in over 280 mono-brand stores worldwide. The family-run company is now managed by Andrea Dini (third generation). The brand specializes in highly technological sportswear and is considered green, as it respects the environment during the various production stages.
