LANVIN

Lanvin is a French fashion house founded by Jeanne Lanvin in 1885. After training at Madame Félix's workshop, Jeanne Lanvin opened her own fashion house in Paris in 1885, quickly gaining favor with a wide clientele by producing clothing for ladies and children. In the 1920s, the fashion house became extremely popular throughout Europe: Lanvin began opening specialized boutiques in various sectors of fashion, ranging from interior design to men's clothing to lingerie. However, Lanvin's greatest success came with the creation of the Lanvin Parfums SA brand in 1924, focused on perfume production. Particularly successful were the fragrances Arpège and My Sin. When Jeanne Lanvin died in 1946, ownership of the fashion house passed to the designer's daughter, Marie-Blanche de Polignac. However, Marie-Blanche died in 1958, leaving the fashion house to her cousin Yves Lanvin, who appointed Belgian designer Francois Crahay as creative director, replacing the previous Antonio Canovas del Castillo. Crahay worked for Lanvin until 1984, and his collections received the prestigious Dé d'Or award three times. The same recognition was also achieved by Claude Montana, artistic director of Lanvin from 1990 to 1992. In October 2001, Alber Elbaz was appointed as the new creative director of the company. In the late 2000s, one of the muses of designer Alber Elbaz was English top model Lily Donaldson.
