IBELIV
Tiana is the eldest daughter in a family of 11 children: two girls and nine boys. In Madagascar, being male represents to parents a better assurance for the future and holds significant importance: they are seen as the primary workforce, responsible for the transmission of heritage and inheritance. Tiana has an enterprising temperament, and when she finds herself very young, having to raise her son Liva alone, she demonstrates ingenuity and courage. Alongside her studies, she crafts handmade objects to meet daily needs, thus becoming aware of the importance of craftsmanship for women's independence. She teaches her son perseverance, kindness, and sharing, and she fights to ensure him a quality education. She enrolls him in the best schools and saves up so that he can study abroad. She desires above all else his success and encourages him to study to become an accountant in France. This profession represents to her the economic security for her son's future and justifies the sacrifices and selflessness that such a separation requires. With the treasures of his island and the cultural values deeply ingrained in his mind, Liva arrives in France and makes magnificent encounters. Here he also discovers design, which has always fascinated him. At the same time, his accounting expertise gives him rigor and awareness of the costs of daily life. Excited and newly graduated, he takes up his first positions in a company and is immediately disappointed... He does not see his future in a hierarchical organization that leaves little room for evolution and even less for creation and exploration. For him, it's time for self-reflection. Very quickly, a return to his roots imposes itself on him. The idea is therefore to design accessories that highlight the natural resources and ancient skills of Madagascar, adding a contemporary touch. Tiana, having always worked in craftsmanship and having always supported the transmission of traditions, is enthusiastic about her son's idea. She is fully involved in this project and recruits the first artisans with him. Given the scope of the project, they symbolically call the brand IBELIV (I believe in it). IBELIV aims to offer Malagasy women professional opportunities and emancipation. Their motivation and the desire to do well are sufficient to involve them in the adventure. Each woman thus becomes the creator of IBELIV's creations, but also the architect of her own life. She puts her love, her history, and her aspirations into the creations she makes, making each one of them an inimitable work, nourished by a true soul. Today, the adventure is made up of several hundred artisans, but the philosophy remains intact and meticulously transmitted to all who join the team: together representing progress and fulfillment.
