This is the story of an all-Italian success that began its first steps in Milan in 1927, before moving to Desenzano del Garda in the late 1930s, where the historic Gallo factory is still located today. Initially, the company produced blue and gray socks. Durable, classic, of high quality. Just what was needed at that time. Then, in the 1960s, the first spark ignited: thanks to a unique and innovative approach, Ambrogio Colombo invented perforated socks and socks for newborns, the smallest socks ever made. The company continued to grow. In addition to the value of artisanal tradition, there was a strong inclination towards industrial technological evolution. Thus, the transmitted knowledge, raw materials, and craftsmanship became indispensable elements, just like the use of exceptional Bentley frames, which still today allow for exceptional workmanship and distinctive collections. Starting in 1998, tradition was overturned and made way for change. Thanks to the initiative and intuition of Giuseppe Colombo, CEO and creative director of the brand, buying socks was no longer a necessary action but transformed into an impulse-driven gesture. From a simple accessory almost exclusively for men, socks became a pure representation of style, an original way to express one's personality, a detail that truly made a difference. The shades of gray were abandoned. Socks were filled with exuberant colors. An explosion of multicolored stripes in variable proportions, chromatic contrasts, and bold geometries appeared on socks, knitwear, jackets, and accessories for men, women, and children. Line after line, collection after collection, the continuous creative research redefined a new aesthetic of the sock, which became increasingly an emotional, distinctive, and eclectic element. Like any work of art, Gallo socks have their own distinctive signature. The "rimaglio," a characteristic white thread, an imperceptible finish that ensures maximum comfort to the sock: it joins the toe to the foot of the sock, replacing the more usual seam. The "rimaglio" is a timeless art that is still handcrafted in the company today: sock after sock, specialized personnel perform this process perfectly matching the two ranks of the mesh. We select and use only top-quality materials, rigorously "doubled" and "twisted": extra-fine merino wool, pure Egyptian cotton, linen, cashmere, and 100% extremely thin and comfortable silk. We purchase the raw yarn from the best global manufacturers, then dye it in Gallo colors, an exclusive range composed of a thousand shades. We use electronic instrumentation to constantly analyze the intensity, regularity, and brilliance of the product, and allow a deviation from the Gallo color range of only 0.8% (exactly half compared to parameters universally recognized as "high standards"). Sartorial elegance, innovation, creative flair, and craftsmanship represent the strengths of Gallo, a pioneering company that has revolutionized the world of socks. And like every revolution, Gallo's was born from an idea, an intuition so powerful that it was able to reshape classical patterns and subvert the very concept of style.
