We believe in the positive influence of sports on the mind. That's why we develop products that encourage more and more people to move, benefiting both their physical and mental well-being. This is why our name is ASICS, an acronym for "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which means a healthy mind in a healthy body. Our founder, Kihachiro Onitsuka, in post-war Japan, understood the potential of sports in renewing hope and optimism in people. The first model of basketball shoes, created in 1950, was the first step. During a lunch, Onitsuka was inspired by observing the grip of an octopus's tentacles, subsequently updating the shoes with an innovative suction system. Since then, ASICS has been committed to designing, creating, and testing millions of shoe models, with the goal of uplifting the world's spirit through sports.
